The Peace He Brings

Resting in the Presence of Emmanuel

John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Opening Reflection

Peace is one of the most precious gifts Christ gives His people. During Advent, we remember that Jesus came into a restless world to quiet troubled hearts and bring the peace only He can give (Isaiah 9:6). His peace is not fragile or temporary; it flows from His presence. Emmanuel—God with us—meets us in our fears and gently leads us into His rest.

Taking a Devotional View

The peace Jesus offers is not found in the absence of difficulty but in the presence of the Savior who walks with us (Psalm 23:4). When Christ came as a baby, heaven’s calm entered earth’s chaos. The angels announced “peace among those with whom He is pleased” (Luke 2:14), declaring that peace is now available through Christ to all who trust in Him.

Throughout His ministry, Jesus continually invited weary and anxious hearts to find rest in Him (Matthew 11:28–29). He knew the pressures, fears, and uncertainties His followers would face, and He promised a peace the world cannot take away (John 16:33). Advent reminds us that this peace is not distant—it is present, personal, and powerful.

As you walk through this Advent season, let the peace of Christ rule in your heart (Colossians 3:15). Bring your anxieties to Him, knowing He cares deeply for you (1 Peter 5:7). Let His presence settle your spirit and strengthen your faith. The Prince of Peace has come—and He is with you still.
