Joy Forevermore
The Fullness of Joy Made Complete
Revelation 21:3-4 — “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’”
Opening Reflection
This series began with David’s words in Psalm 16:11: fullness of joy in God’s presence, and pleasures at His right hand forevermore. It’s fitting to end there too—not because we’ve exhausted the topic, but because this is where every stream of joy is finally heading.
Taking a Devotional View
Revelation 21 describes what Psalm 16:11 promised, fully realized: God’s presence not visited occasionally but dwelling permanently with His people, every tear wiped away, every source of former sorrow gone for good. This is fullness of joy with nothing left to interrupt it—no trial, no waiting, no partial experience of what is still to come. Isaiah foresaw this same day centuries earlier: “He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces” (Isaiah 25:8)—a promise God has been keeping His people all along, now brought to its completion.
Every joy this series has traced—received in His presence, expressed in worship and generosity, endured through trial—has been real joy, but not yet complete joy. That completion is coming, secured by the same Christ who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. What He purchased, He will finish (Philippians 1:6).
Let this future be an anchor for today. Whatever joy you’ve tasted this week—in prayer, in worship, in service, even in trial—is a genuine down payment on what is coming in full; Scripture says the Holy Spirit Himself is the guarantee of our inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14). Live today in light of that ending: pleasures forevermore, at His right hand, joy finally and forever complete.

Ask Yourself
- How does the promise of complete, future joy change how I hold present joys and present sorrows?
- What has this series shown me about where my joy has been coming from?
Lord, thank You for the fullness of joy already tasted and the fullness of joy still to come. Until that day, keep me near Your presence, and let every joy along the way point me home to You. Amen.
Living in the Fullness of Joy
The Fullness of Joy series ends where it began: in the presence of God. Whatever each day may bring, stay close to the One who is The Source of Every Joy. Seek Him in prayer, abide in Christ, walk with His Spirit, and let His joy overflow through your worship, service, generosity, and even your trials. Circumstances will change, but the Source of your joy never will. Make His presence the center of each day, and let the joy you find in Him become the joy you carry into the lives of others.
