From Rescue to Riches

Realizing your wealth in Christ

Ephesians 1:3 — “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,”

Opening Reflection

Much of the Christian story begins with rescue—and rightly so Colossians 1:13–14. Scripture celebrates the grace that delivered us from sin, death, and separation from God. Yet the gospel does not stop at what we were saved from. It also invites us to consider what we have been saved into. In Christ, rescue gives way to riches, and deliverance opens the door to abundance John 10:10.

Taking a Devotional View

Paul’s words in Ephesians lift our eyes beyond survival and into celebration. He declares that believers have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Ephesians 1:3. This is not a future promise waiting to be earned, nor a limited supply granted to a few. It is a present reality, secured by Christ and shared by all who belong to Him.

These spiritual riches include forgiveness, adoption, access, inheritance, and the abiding presence of God Himself Ephesians 1:5 Romans 8:15. While trials and responsibilities remain part of earthly life, they no longer define our standing. We live not as spiritual paupers hoping for mercy, but as children richly supplied by a generous Father.

When believers recognize their wealth in Christ, gratitude replaces fear and confidence replaces scarcity. Obedience becomes a response to abundance rather than an attempt to earn favor 2 Corinthians 9:8. The Christian life is no longer marked only by rescue memories, but by daily enjoyment of God’s lavish grace.
