God's Omnipotence: Relying on the All-Powerful God
Nothing Is Too Hard for Him
Jeremiah 32:17 — “Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”
Opening Reflection
When circumstances appear impossible—hopeless diagnoses, broken relationships, overwhelming obstacles, or seemingly unfulfilled promises—we are tempted to limit God by our own experience. Yet Scripture declares that God is omnipotent: all-powerful, unlimited in strength, and able to accomplish anything consistent with His holy nature. This attribute is not abstract might; it is personal, purposeful power wielded in love and wisdom. For believers, God's omnipotence is a source of profound comfort and courage: the same God who spoke creation into existence, parted seas, raised the dead, and raised Christ from the tomb is at work in our lives today. Nothing is too hard for Him.
Taking a Devotional View
Scripture repeatedly affirms God's limitless power. Genesis 18:14 asks, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" Job 42:2 confesses, "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted." In the New Testament, Romans 1:4 declares that Christ was "declared to be the Son of God in power… by his resurrection from the dead." The resurrection is the supreme display of omnipotence—conquering sin, death, and the grave. Because Christ lives, the same power that raised Him is at work in us (Ephesians 1:19–20), enabling us to face every trial, overcome sin, and fulfill His calling.
For believers, relying on God's omnipotence means trusting Him with the impossible. It frees us from anxiety when human strength fails, invites bold prayer for what seems out of reach, and anchors hope in His sovereign ability to fulfill every promise. This truth does not make life easy, but it makes us secure: our God is never overpowered, never surprised, and never defeated. In Christ, His power becomes our strength in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), transforming fear into faith and despair into worship.
