In Christ All God’s Promises Are Yes

Every promise finds its Yes in Him; the believer answers Amen
Part 11 of 17 Series — What being “in Christ” personally means to you

2 Corinthians 1:20 — “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.”

Opening Reflection

Many believers read the promises of Scripture and feel a quiet skepticism rise. Has God really said this for me? Will He follow through? The mind hedges, the heart waits for disappointment, and faith gets reduced to wishful thinking. Scripture answers this hesitation directly: in Christ, every promise of God has already received its Yes, and the believer’s part is to say Amen.

Taking a Devotional View

2 Corinthians 1 finds Paul defending himself against accusations of being unreliable. Travel plans had changed, opponents had pounced, and the church wondered if his word could be trusted. Paul’s answer pivots away from his own credibility to the foundation beneath it: the unwavering reliability of God Himself. “All the promises of God find their Yes in him” — meaning in Christ. Every covenant promise made through the prophets, every assurance recorded in Scripture, every pledge of forgiveness, presence, provision, and resurrection life is fulfilled and guaranteed in Jesus. The Father has spoken Yes to His own promises by giving His Son.

This shifts where the believer looks for confidence. Faith is not the strength of one’s own feeling but the dependability of the One who speaks. The promises do not rest on the believer’s worthiness, mood, or performance; they rest on the Christ in whom they are kept. Paul names the believer’s response: “through him we utter our Amen to God.” Amen is not a closing word for prayer but an act of agreement — saying back to God, “I receive what You have said.” The result is twofold: God is glorified as the One who keeps His word, and the believer’s life is steadied on something that does not move (Hebrews 10:23; Romans 4:20-21).

Key Thoughts & Takeaways

Key Thoughts

  • All of God’s promises find their Yes in Christ — fulfilled, guaranteed, and accessible to those who are in Him (2 Corinthians 1:20).
  • Faith rests on God’s reliability, not the believer’s feelings or performance, because Christ Himself is the guarantee (Hebrews 10:23).
  • The believer’s response is to say Amen — agreeing with what God has spoken — and live steadied on it (Romans 4:20-21; 2 Peter 1:4).

Ask Yourself

  • Which of God’s promises am I currently treating as uncertain because I am measuring it against my feelings rather than Christ?
  • Where in my prayer life is “Amen” missing — am I receiving what God has spoken or quietly hedging on it?
  • How would my decisions today change if I lived steadied on promises that have already been answered Yes in Christ?

Faithful Father, thank You that in Christ all Your promises are Yes. Forgive the hesitation that measures Your word by my feelings instead of by Your Son. Strengthen me to say Amen to what You have spoken, and steady my life today on promises You have already kept in Him. Be glorified through faith that rests on Your reliability rather than my own. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
