Trust is one of love's clearest tests. It is easy to trust someone when their ways make perfect sense to us. The real proof comes when we keep trusting "with all your heart" precisely when our own understanding runs out and their ways seem confusing, or even painful.
Love for Jesus is not only expressed in worship during good seasons. It is expressed, perhaps most clearly, in refusing to lean on our own limited understanding when His ways feel hard to bear. This is where trust stops being theoretical and becomes real.

"Do not lean on your own understanding" does not mean abandoning thought altogether. It means refusing to make our finite, often distorted grasp of a situation the final authority over God's wisdom.
