The Empty Tomb Changes Everything

The Week That Changed Everything – Day 8

Matthew 28:6 — “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.”

Opening Reflection

When the women came to the tomb, they expected to find a body. Instead, they encountered a declaration that would change everything: “He is not here… he has risen.” The stone was rolled away, not to let Jesus out, but to reveal that death had no hold on Him.

The silence of the tomb was broken by the reality of resurrection. What had appeared to be the end was, in fact, the beginning of something entirely new.

The resurrection was not merely an event—it was the confirmation of everything Jesus had said and accomplished. The cross was not a defeat. It was the pathway to victory.

Taking a Devotional View

The empty tomb changes everything because it confirms who Jesus is. His authority is validated. His sacrifice is accepted. His promises are proven true. Death itself has been overcome.

The resurrection declares that sin has been paid for, the power of death has been broken, and new life is now available to all who believe. Jesus is not a figure of the past—He is the living Lord.

This means the gospel is not simply a message to understand—it is a truth to respond to. The risen Christ calls for more than acknowledgment. He calls for surrender, trust, and allegiance.

To make the Easter story your story is to respond in faith—to turn from sin and entrust your life to Christ. It is to receive what He has accomplished and to step into the new life He alone provides.

The message of the resurrection is both an invitation and a declaration: the work is finished, the victory is won, and the way is open. The question is whether we will respond.

Scripture makes this response clear: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
